Agadir – Talisman Metals PLC, a mineral exploration company focused on copper projects in Morocco, has announced the discovery of a new outcropping copper mineralization zone at its Tirzzit copper project in Morocco’s Taroudant province.

The company said that this finding significantly expands the project’s exploration potential ahead of a planned drilling campaign later this summer.

The discovery was made during a reconnaissance operation conducted by the company’s geology team as part of preparations for the upcoming drilling program.

According to Talisman, the newly identified mineralized outcrop extends the known copper mineralization zone approximately two kilometers east of the historic TT6 drill hole, which previously intersected 11.40 meters grading 0.60% copper from a depth of 72.8 meters.

The company said prospecting north of the ridge marking the northeastern boundary of the Tirzzit license area led to the identification of the new drill target, where visible copper mineralization, including malachite, was observed at the surface.

Talisman CEO Tim McCutcheon welcomed the discovery, describing it as an encouraging development for the exploration program.

“Things are going very well for our team as we gear up to drill at Tirzzit. Sometimes the best geology is uncovered the old-fashioned way, by mapping and prospecting,” McCutcheon said.

“This outcrop, and the other known structures that are similar, make us extremely confident that we have a special project at Tirzzit which has size potential previously unknown,” he added.

The company said it has collected channel samples from the newly discovered outcrops to better understand the mineralization’s controls, copper and silver content, thickness, and dip direction. Assay results are expected to be released in the coming weeks and will help define future drill targets.

Located about 225 kilometers east of Agadir, the Tirzzit project is a sediment-hosted stratiform copper-silver (Cu-Ag) system covering 16.5 square kilometers across two mining licenses.

Talisman announced the acquisition of the project in February 2026 from a wholly owned subsidiary of Aya Silver & Gold Inc., which currently holds a 4.7% stake in the company.
