What else do investors need to know?
The DFS, completed with technical input from Rio Tinto and oversight from the World Bank’s IFC, sets Sovereign Metals up as a potential leader in the supply of critical minerals—titanium (rutile), graphite, and heavy rare earths. Notably, evaluation is underway into monazite by-products rich in heavy rare earth elements such as dysprosium, terbium, and yttrium, which are increasingly valued by Western economies.
Sovereign is sharpening its US-focused critical minerals strategy, deepening engagement with US Government and industry, and seeking to finalise binding offtake agreements with parties like Mitsui and Traxys. Rehabilitation trials at the Kasiya site are also showing promise, providing higher than average crop yields and building stronger community partnerships.
Managing Director & CEO Frank Eagar said:
Sovereign’s DFS firmly positions Kasiya as one of the world’s most important future sources of critical minerals, de-risked technically and from a social, infrastructure and ESG perspective. With this platform, we are now focusing on bringing forward financing and offtake arrangements, especially in US-aligned supply chains.
Next steps include completion of the heavy rare earth concentrate technical and economic study, including a first mineral resource estimate for monazite. Sovereign expects to advance commercial engagement and push towards binding agreements with key US and allied partners, while continuing to integrate environmental and social standards to maintain bankability and support project finance.
The company also plans to expand its agricultural rehabilitation activities, strengthening ties with local communities and ensuring the sustainability of Kasiya’s long-term development beyond mining.
Over the past 12 months, Sovereign Metals shares have declined 27%, trailing the All Ordinaries Index (AX: XAO), which has risen 2% over the same period.
