U.S. stocks have been swinging into and out of the green all morning, but as of the latest trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 were both higher, while the Nasdaq Composite remained stuck in the red.
The Dow was up 128 points, or 0.3%, at 46,076.
The S&P 500 was up by 4 points, or 0.1%, at 6,633.
The Nasdaq Composite was off by 38 points, or 0.2%, at 22,523.
“Frankly I’m a little surprised that the equity market is hanging in as well as it has in light of all of this,” said James St. Aubin, chief investment officer at Sierra Mutual Funds.
“You got a lot of arrows being slung at the market right now, we’re already in a government shutdown so the data is limited, and on top of that you have some headline risk with trade as well as some credit issues,” he said.
