The retail giant is recalling the Game of Thrones mug and sock set, item code 5706580, the Batman mug and sock set, item code 4367677, and the Ricky and Morty mug and keyring, item code 4367723.
The recall, triggered on October 27, was due to the possibility that heavy metals may migrate from the enamel coating into hot drinks, which can pose a health risk if ingested repeatedly over time.
Heavy metals include the likes of arsenic, mercury and lead as well as lesser-known ones such as cadmium, but it’s unclear what metals the warning includes.
Customers who bought the branded gift sets from Blue Sky Designs Limited were urged to ‘stop using the mug’ and return to their nearest store for a full refund.
Anyone who has bought an affected product as a gift is also urged to inform the recipient quickly.
Boots apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged customers to contact manufacturer Blue Sky Designs for further details.
