A UK energy company has filed for administration with 170 staff members now looking for new work. Amber Energy Solutions LTD has been appointed administrators, The Gazette reports today. The company has been described as the UK’s “number one independent third party intermediary (TPI) in the energy sector,” and it was recognised as a top 101 most innovative energy efficiency company in the UK in 2021, reports Cold Chain Federation.
Matthew Whitchurch and Jonathan Dunn, both of FRP Advisory Trading Limited, Kings Orchard in Bristol, will now oversee the process. The energy company was a seemingly successful mid-size business.

On Linkedin, a description of the company reads: “We are an award-winning energy consultancy and certified B Corp.

Richard Dormer, managing director of BCR Associates, penned: “The fall of Amber Energy Solutions Ltd one of the larger energy and sustainability companies has come as a shock and surprise.”
Another person, Lee McGhie, managing director of Brownlow Utilities Ltd, said: “I was genuinely sorry to hear that Amber has entered administration.
“This is a tough outcome for everyone involved, particularly the people who have worked hard to build the business.
“Our thoughts are with the team and their customers as they navigate the next steps.”
Amber, the Cardiff-founded energy consultancy set up by Nick Proctor, collapsed on Friday, February 27, with staff now looking for work, reports Energy Live News.
It reports that the latest audited accounts showed turnover of about £11m, with no obvious “red flags.”
The company had grown steadily from its Welsh base into a national consultancy.
It had built a strong reputation in the public sector and energy markets, specialising in data platforms, analytics and digital transformation.
