Gov’t offers incentives for reporting suspected ticket scalping ahead of BTS concerts, KBO season

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is encouraging the public to report suspected ticket scalping as part of a broader crackdown ahead of major events, including the BTS concerts and the opening of the KBO season later this month.

 

The
ticket scalping reporting center, operated by the Korea Creative Content Agency, will offer incentives, such as gift certificates and prepaid vouchers, to those who report suspected instances of ticket scalping.

 


 

Reports should include reservation and seat numbers, allowing the Culture Ministry to notify and request that the ticketing platform take appropriate actions, such as canceling the ticket.

 

All forms of unfair ticket transactions, including reselling tickets at inflated prices and the use of automated input computer programs known as macros, will be monitored. Posts on online secondhand marketplaces suspected of such activities will also be regularly shared with the National Police Agency.

 

The police will pay particular attention to the BTS concert scheduled to take place at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul on March 21. Fifty-six officers will be deployed throughout the venue from 2 p.m. until entry closes to monitor for illegal ticket transactions.
