Iridium and Deutsche Telekom IoT demo NB-IoT voice messaging over satellite
Iridium Communications and Deutsche Telekom IoT have demonstrated the transmission of a voice message over Iridium’s satellite network using the Iridium NTN Direct service, with Toyota providing the vehicle platform for the test. The message was sent from a Toyota vehicle equipped with a Nordic Semiconductor nRF9151 development board and a Deutsche Telekom IoT SIM. It was transmitted entirely over Iridium’s low Earth orbit satellite network during Telekom Satellite Day 2026.
