A fire crew remained at the scene of a blaze overnight which destroyed almost all of a cottage’s thatched roof.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said 11 crews including some from Norfolk were called to The Street in Rickinghall at about 11:57 GMT on Sunday.

Crews were stood down at 21:56 but one team remained overnight.

Following an investigation, the service said the most probable cause was an ember or spark from a log burner that had been lit in the neighbouring property.
