The UK’s best energy provider for 2026 was named by consumer experts, and it is not one of the big names you might expect to win. The UK has a plethora of energy providers, all offering different deals, promotions and levels of customer support.

Consumer experts Which? have named the energy suppliers that give the best customer service and have the best customer satisfaction. It does this every year as part of its annual energy satisfaction survey, which covers 17 suppliers in Great Britain. The 2026 results, published at the beginning of the year, are based on nearly 12,000 energy customers telling them about the service they receive. Which? also conducted its own in-depth assessment of firms’ practices to find out “which are set up in the best interests of their customers”.

Both of these criteria were combined to come up with the final result. Four providers were given Which? Recommended titles.

“We surveyed 11,945 members of the general public in September-October 2025,” the experts said. “We assessed firms’ behind-the-scenes practices in September-November 2025 to compare their approaches to methods of contact, supporting customers who need it, how they performed against their smart meter targets, switching, and complaints data.”

The winner, with an overall score of 79%, is E (Gas & Electricity). This company, according to Which?, promises low prices, and customers can claim a £50 loyalty credit after getting their gas and electricity supply from it for 12 months.

It also allows customers to pay for their gas and electricity in advance, using a key for electricity and a card for gas. Its customer survey score came out at 78%, while its Which? assemssment score was 79%.

In second place is Octopus Energy with a score of 74%, followed by 100Green in third place with a final score of 72%. However, 100Green had the highest customer survey score at 82%.
