The Tendring Hundred Farmers’ Club (THFC) has begun a trial run for a new Educational Outreach Programme to connect farmers with schools and communities, giving young people a closer look at where their food comes from and the role of farming in daily life.
So far, feedback from schools has been positive, with many asking for farmer visits and assemblies.

A spokesperson said: “We are very appreciative of the farmers who have already come forward and agreed to go into a school.”
Alex Cullen of Cullen Family Farming visited Lawford Primary and All Saints Church of England Primary.
He said: “As a family farm, we found it incredibly rewarding visiting a local school and speaking to early years students about the work we do as farmers.

“We loved showing them how tractors have evolved from horse-drawn machinery to the powerful, high-tech equipment we use today, and helping them understand which crops go into foods they enjoy so they can recognise what’s growing in the fields around them.”
Any schools interested in being part of the project should get in touch with the THFC office.
