Bangladesh-based climate-tech company ME SOLshare Ltd has showcased a range of decentralised clean energy solutions at the Solar Expo, highlighting the potential of rooftop solar, battery storage, peer-to-peer electricity trading to accelerate the country’s transition towards clean energy.
The company presented its solutions yesterday at the two-day expo at the Bangladesh-China Friendship International Conference Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka.
SOLshare showcased its integrated energy services, covering the entire project lifecycle, from site assessment, design and simulation to procurement, construction, inspection, maintenance, monitoring and handover.
Under its Decarbonisation as a Service portfolio, SOLshare offers rooftop solar installations, battery energy storage systems, heat recovery, water treatment and energy efficiency services to help industries reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.
A key innovation is its peer-to-peer microgrid technology, which connects standalone solar home systems to create decentralised electricity networks.
Through its bidirectional smart meter, SOLbox, households can sell surplus solar power to neighbouring homes and businesses, earning money through mobile financial services.
SOLshare is also promoting cleaner transport through its SOLmobility initiative, which replaces conventional lead-acid batteries in electric three-wheelers with lithium-ion alternatives.
Its pay-as-you-go battery leasing model is designed to lower upfront costs for drivers, reduce charging times and help them increase daily earnings.
Another initiative, the Rickshaw Virtual Power Plant, connects batteries used in electric three-wheelers to form a distributed energy storage network. By utilising otherwise idle battery capacity, the system could help manage peak electricity demand and support grid stability.
Founded in 2014-15 and headquartered in Dhaka, SOLshare develops smart energy technologies to expand access to affordable clean power and support Bangladesh’s decarbonisation efforts.
