A UK energy producer has plunged into liquidation. Baker Street Generation Limited entered Creditor’s Voluntary Liquidation on July 16, a notice in the London Gazette reveals. This process happens when an insolvent company chooses to wind up its operations and close. It means an insolvency practitioner (a liquidator) comes in to liquidate the company, sell off its assets and pay back its creditors.
Stuart Robb, of Robb Advisory, has been appointed as the liquidator of Baker Street Generation Limited in this case. According to Companies House, it had a registered office at Clyde View (Suite F3), Riverside Business Park, in Greenock, Scotland, and was incorporated almost eight years ago, in August 2018.
A Resolutions for Winding-up notice reads: “Written Resolutions were passed on 16 July 2026 pursuant to the provisions of the Companies Act 2006, as a Special Resolution and as an Ordinary Resolution of the Company:
“That the Company be wound up voluntarily and that Stuart Robb, of Robb Advisory, Unit 1, Ground Floor, Airbles House, 270 Airbles Road, Motherwell, ML1 3AT, (IP No: 19450) be appointed Liquidator of the Company.”
A document from the Environment Agency reveals that Baker Street Generation Limited was specifically tied to the Protos Gas Generation Plant. The document detailed the approved installation of the energy-production plant at National Grid Reference SJ 46601 76109, approximately 7 km to the east of Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, England.
The Environmental Permit pertained to the burning of “any fuel in an appliance with a rated thermal input of 50 or more megawatts”, as well as the installation of 11 natural gas-fired 10MWth engines.
It is one of several UK energy companies that have faced insolvency in recent months. Back in April, one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of battery storage systems entered administration. GivEnergy Ltd appointed administrator Christopher Brooksbank of CB Business Recover on April 9 in the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts in Leeds.
In March, Amber Energy Solutions Ltd was appointed administrators, resulting in more than 100 staff members looking for new jobs.
