US spot Ether ETFs shed approximately $320 million in net outflows over the week ending October 16, 2026. That figure topped the roughly $228 million that left spot Bitcoin ETFs over the same stretch.
Ether funds keep leaking
On October 14, Ether ETFs recorded about $129.5 million in net outflows. On October 16, another $69.7 million walked out the door.
BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust, which trades under the ticker ETHA, did most of the heavy lifting on the way out. The fund has often accounted for 80% or more of total Ether ETF redemptions, a pattern that has repeated in recent weeks.
Withdrawals from Bitcoin ETFs slowed by 66% compared with the prior week, according to The Defiant. Bitcoin funds even managed a small inflow on one day during the period.
An October that looks nothing like September
Ether ETFs have seen outflows consistently since late September. At one point, the streak stretched to nine consecutive days of redemptions by early October.
October-to-date losses for Ether funds have been reported to approach or exceed $900 million.
The contrast with September is stark. Last month brought strong inflows into crypto ETFs, with Bitcoin products in particular pulling in fresh capital.
Context: Ether ETFs are still well in the green overall
Spot Ether ETFs launched in the US in July 2024. Since then, the funds have collected cumulative net inflows of more than $12.9 billion. Total assets under management across the category have been reported in a range between $14.5 billion and $15.3 billion.
Two forces appear to be weighing on sentiment. Ether has recently underperformed Bitcoin, and rising Treasury yields have added macro pressure on risk assets.
What this means for investors and the market
When Bitcoin outflows slow by 66% while Ether outflows remain heavy, it suggests investors are not simply exiting crypto wholesale. Some appear to be trimming the more volatile asset first.
Because BlackRock’s ETHA so often accounts for the bulk of redemptions, a shift in its daily flows would likely be the first visible sign that the trend is turning.
With assets under management still reported between $14.5 billion and $15.3 billion, the category retains a substantial base even after a rough few weeks.
