The Reserve Bank of Australia joined forces with the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre to release findings from Project Acacia, a wholesale tokenised asset markets project.

The project examined how digital money and settlement infrastructure could support tokenised wholesale markets, and tested 20 use cases across asset issuance, servicing, trading and settlement. The RBA said the tests explored settlement using exchange settlement account balances, a pilot wholesale central bank digital currency, tokenised commercial bank deposits and stablecoins.
