A PlayStation platinum trophy long considered impossible to get, has finally been earned over a decade after release.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus on PS Vita has built a near-mythical reputation among trophy hunters, largely due to its brutal difficulty and infamous Tag Mission challenges.

Now, a Japanese PSN user known as Tqvry has become the first ever player to unlock the game’s platinum trophy, 13 years after the game’s release.

The platinum trophy, “Master of the Secret Arts,” requires clearing every challenge in the game, including late-stage missions that many players have struggled with for years. However, what makes the PS Vita version especially punishing is how those challenges are handled.

Impossible platinum finally achieved

Unlike the PS3 version, the Vita release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 removes online co-op entirely, forcing players into Tag Missions with an AI partner instead. The mode also wasn’t rebalanced for solo play, while the AI itself is widely criticized for being unreliable in high-level encounters.

As you can imagine, this turns already difficult missions into a nightmarish test of both skill and mental endurance. According to the player, it took around 600 hours to get 100% completion, highlighting just how demanding the process can be.

To show off their incredible feat, Tqvry uploaded their winning run to YouTube as part of a nine-hour and 55-minute playthrough.

While there are a total of three achievers globally, Tqvry is currently the only player in the world who has proof that they have earned the “Master of the Secret Arts” trophy legitimately. Because of this, they are currently listed under the “First Achievers” leaderboard until other players manage to match this feat.

Since uploading the video, Tqvry has quickly gone viral across social media, with fans praising this hard-earned platinum trophy.

“You’re batsh*t insane in the best way, and a legend. Super congrats on the impossible feat and being the world’s first,” one commenter wrote.

“This is easily one of the most insane achievements I’ve ever seen in gaming. It could end up being the peak of trophy hunting for years to come,” another added. “Other legit achievers will come, but being the first to conquer something everyone thought was impossible is legendary.”
