Investment geek.
A journal of an entrepreneur who has experienced approximately 6 billion yen in total real estate investments and 17 M&A deals, studying day trading while aiming for 10 billion yen.
Today, I would like to think about which sectors are attracting capital based on the ranking of stocks with surging prices.
Recently, information leaks at companies like GMO and Park24 have been a hot topic.
I see news about information leaks somewhere every day.
Now, when looking at the stock market, one inevitably focuses on the rise and fall of the Nikkei Stock Average and TOPIX.
However, what is important in day trading is not just the direction of the indices.
What are the stocks actually being bought right now?
And,
what do those stocks have in common?
I have recently felt that this part is extremely important.
■ Today’s day trading result: +10,550 yen
First, starting with today’s trading results.
-
Number of trades: 7
-
Wins: 6
-
Losses: 1
-
Today’s profit/loss: +10,550 yen
-
October cumulative profit/loss: -86,389 yen
Today, I traded Tokyo Electron, Kioxia, and Advantest.
My trading is centered on scalping, where I buy and sell on a very short time horizon.
The results were positive, but I’m thinking it’s time to switch to a new method.
Until now, I often took profits on short price movements lasting from a few seconds to a few minutes, but from now on, I want to extend the time horizon a bit and increase trades that firmly ride the trend.
Right now, I spend most of my time just watching, but when I finish day trading, the fatigue is incredible, haha…
From here on, while it is important to accumulate small profits, it is also necessary to have the skill to capture the price range when a trend occurs.
Of course, holding for a long time does not necessarily mean profits will increase.
It is a prerequisite to clarify the basis for entry, the position for stop-loss, and the conditions for extending profits.
I believe I am currently at a stage where I should improve my trading skills rather than increasing my lot size.
■ I checked today’s price increase rate ranking
Now, here is the main topic for today.
When I checked the domestic stock price increase rate ranking for October 27, there were some very interesting characteristics.
I will introduce the top stocks that could be confirmed in the public ranking.
Stock Name Increase Rate Circlace (5029) +43.71% Schoo (264A) +28.04% Secureveil (3042) +21.38% GC Kikaku (4073) +17.05% Showcase (3909) +15.74% Intertrade (3747) +14.83% S&J (5599) +14.81% DataSection (3905) +14.72% Axel Mark (3624) +14.71% Shin-Etsu Polymer (7970) +14.62%
*Figures as of the time of checking the public ranking on October 27, 2026. Rankings and rates of change may change due to real-time updates.
A recent trend is that companies related to information and communications, IT services, software, and cybersecurity are very prominent.
It is not just about semiconductors.
■ Information and communication/IT-related companies are common among surging stocks
As far as today’s ranking goes, the following fields had a particularly strong presence.
1. Cybersecurity-related
Secureveil, S&J, and others made it into the top ranks.
In previous articles, I have written about the importance of corporate information leaks and security measures.
When actually running a company, information management and security measures are management issues that cannot be ignored.
The fact that such companies are being bought is personally interesting to me as well.
However, stock price increases are not always due to increased demand for security.
It is also necessary to check individual factors, supply and demand, and the inflow of short-term funds.
2. IT, Software, and Digital-related
Circlace, GC Planning, Showcase, and Intertrade also entered the top rankings.
These are groups of companies related to software, digitalization, and IT services.
I myself am very interested in AI and business digitalization in my own company management.
However, growing as a business and a short-term rise in stock price are separate issues.
In day trading, not only the future potential of a company but also current supply and demand become important.
When multiple related companies are rising like today, it is possible that capital is flowing into the entire theme, not just individual factors.
3. Semiconductor and AI-related
It is not just small-cap stocks with high surge rates.
In the semiconductor sector as well, significant price movements were confirmed in Advantest, Ibiden, Samco, and others.
Advantest, which I monitor regularly, is one of them.
What is important here is to think about the price increase rate ranking and the trading value ranking separately.
Small-cap stocks can rise significantly even with relatively low trading value.
On the other hand, for large-cap semiconductor stocks to rise significantly, corresponding buying demand is required.
Small-cap IT stocks stand out in terms of surge rate, while large-cap semiconductor stocks stand out in terms of trading value.
I believe that being aware of these differences when selecting stocks to monitor will be useful for my future day trading.
■ So, which sectors are actually strong?
You cannot judge the strength of an entire industry just by looking at the price increase ranking of individual stocks.
Therefore, I also checked the price fluctuations of the 33 TSE industry sectors.
As of 11:21 AM on October 27th, the following sectors were rising according to the industry-specific data.
Industry Price Change Rate
Electric Appliances +2.37%
Non-ferrous Metals +2.34%
Glass & Ceramics Products +2.12%
Banks +1.54%
Machinery +1.51%
Information & Communication +0.70%
※ This is data from the morning session and is not the final closing ranking.
I think these numbers are interesting.
Even though IT and information/communication-related stocks are very prominent in the individual surge rankings, there were times when the electric appliance and non-ferrous metal sectors were stronger overall.
In other words,
the sector with many surging stocks does not necessarily match the sector where the entire industry is rising.
This is an important point.
Even if only specific theme stocks are surging, it does not mean that all companies belonging to that industry are rising.
Conversely, even if an entire industry is rising, there are differences in strength depending on the individual stock.
■ Stock selection is extremely important for winning at day trading
Until now, I have mainly traded semiconductor-related stocks such as Advantest, Tokyo Electron, and Kioxia.
The reason is that I am used to looking at their charts, and their trading volume and value are relatively large, making them easy to monitor as targets for short-term trading.
However, looking at today’s rankings, there are other significant opportunities in the stock market.
Of course, just because a stock has entered the top of the surge ranking does not mean you will win if you jump on it.
Rather, you need to be careful about buying at the high after a surge.
From now on, I would like to place more emphasis on the following points.
-
Which industries are seeing capital inflows?
-
Whether the price increase is accompanied by volume and trading value, not just the percentage gain.
-
Whether it is just an opening surge or if the trend continues into the afternoon session.
-
Whether it is maintaining the VWAP.
-
Whether buying is coming in on dips and the lows are being raised.
I intend to select the stocks I monitor by confirming these conditions.
■ From scalping to trading with a slightly longer time horizon
My trading today resulted in +10,550 yen over 7 trades.
Through my investment experience so far, I have also learned the fear of investing large amounts of capital.
That is precisely why I want to prioritize technique over capital power for now.
And my future challenge is to increase my profits.
Instead of just locking in profits of a few hundred or a few thousand yen, I want to be able to capture price movements a bit longer when a clear uptrend occurs.
However, extending the time horizon means I also need to be able to endure situations where unrealized gains decrease.
How far to let profits run and where to exit.
I would like to verify these rules as well from here on out.
■ Summary: Look at strong sectors, not just strong stocks
After checking today’s rankings, I felt something anew.
In day trading, isn’t it more important to find stocks that are actually being bought right now, rather than trading stocks that I personally like?
Information and communications, cybersecurity, AI, and semiconductors.
I check the strength of these themes every day to grasp the actual flow of capital.
Then, I analyze the charts of individual stocks.
I would like to keep this flow in mind moving forward.
By the way, the day trading profit for the man aiming for 10 billion yen is +10,550 yen today.
The road to 10 billion yen is long, but I advanced by 10,550 yen today as well.
I will continue to record both my failures and successes without hiding anything.
See you tomorrow.
