As Tamil Nadu heads into a crucial election season, actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay has once again grabbed attention, this time for his vehicle collection. In his nomination affidavit from Chennai’s Perambur constituency, the TVK chief revealed a garage that blends luxury with surprising simplicity.
Vijay has declared vehicle assets worth Rs 7.52 crore, and the list reflects both his superstar status and his attempt to stay connected with the common man.
A Premium Electric Flagship: BMW i7
At the top of his collection is the BMW i7, an all-electric luxury sedan priced at around Rs 2.50 crore. This car has often been seen accompanying Vijay across Chennai, especially after his political entry.
The i7 delivers 449 hp and 650 Nm torque, reaching 0–100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. But performance is only part of the story. Inside, it offers a theatre-like experience with a large rear-seat screen, ambient lighting through the Sky Lounge roof, and a cabin designed for ultimate comfort. It has clearly become his preferred ride.
Luxury Meets Comfort: Toyota Vellfire
Another standout is the Toyota Vellfire, priced upwards of Rs 1.19 crore. Known for its unmatched rear-seat comfort, the Vellfire is a popular choice among celebrities.
It runs on a 2.5-litre hybrid engine producing 193 PS and 240 Nm of torque. The highlight, however, is the interior, reclining captain seats, ambient lighting, dual sunroofs, and a 15-speaker JBL sound system. It is built for long, relaxed journeys rather than speed.
The Executive Choice: BMW 5 Series
Vijay also owns a BMW 5 Series, starting at around Rs 74.8 lakh. This sedan represents classic luxury with a modern touch.
Powered by a 2.0-litre mild-hybrid engine producing 258 hp and 400 Nm torque, the car balances performance with efficiency. The cabin features a curved display, premium upholstery, ambient lighting, and advanced driver assistance systems, making it a refined everyday luxury option.

A Relatable Touch: Maruti Suzuki Swift
In sharp contrast to his luxury cars, Vijay’s garage also includes a Maruti Suzuki Swift, one of India’s most loved hatchbacks.
He was even seen arriving in this car to vote during the previous elections, instantly striking a chord with the public. Practical, fuel-efficient, and widely used, the Swift adds a strong middle-class connection to his collection.
The Surprise Entry: TVS XL Super
Perhaps the most unexpected inclusion is the TVS XL Super, priced from around Rs 44,900. Commonly associated with small businesses and daily commuters, this humble two-wheeler stands out in a collection otherwise filled with premium machines.
Its presence is more than just functional, it feels symbolic. It reflects a grounded image and a connection to everyday India, something that carries significance in the middle of an election campaign.
More Than Just Machines
Here’s the thing. Vijay’s vehicle list isn’t just about luxury or numbers on paper. It quietly tells a story of balance, success, and relatability.
From a Rs 2.50 crore electric sedan to a simple moped used by millions, the contrast is striking. And with Tamil Nadu elections around the corner, that contrast might be exactly what keeps him at the centre of conversation.
