A senior advocate died at a hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday after a vehicle deliberately rammed into him outside his residence, in what his family has described as a premeditated attempt on his life.

ANI reported that Khaja Moizuddin, 63, had just placed his bag inside his Toyota Innova vehicle and was moving toward the driver’s seat when a green Mahindra Scorpio changed course and struck him, hurling him roughly 15 to 20 feet from his car.

The attack took place outside his home in the Masab Tank area, under Nampally police station limits. Bystanders rushed him to Mahavir Hospital, from where he was subsequently transferred to another facility for specialist care. He did not survive.

The entire sequence was recorded on CCTV, which police say shows the Scorpio appearing to alter its path before the collision — a detail central to the family’s assertion that the attack was planned.

NDTV reported his son, advocate Mohammad Farhan, as saying that his father previously faced threats and attacks, and named two individuals he believes are responsible, calling for a thorough probe.

DCP Rakshitha Krishna Murthy told reporters that a murder case has been registered and 4 to 5 teams have been formed to investigate the case. She informed that police have registered a hit-and-run case and deployed four separate teams to track down the vehicle and identify those behind the wheel.

The killing has unsettled Hyderabad’s legal community, with advocates calling on authorities to act quickly and ensure the safety of lawyers engaged in high-stakes litigation.
